Playing with Depth of Field (DoF) and Skin Tones

Description

I was playing with some settings on my camera yesterday – trying to get those really nice, warm skin tones that never seen to come straight out of the camera….you know what?  THEY DO!  I used the WB/Brkt tool to find a point in the magenta/amber range that gave the me colors I was looking for!  This was in late afternoon light, though, and I still have to work on it for morning and mid-afternoon lighting conditions.  I was so pleased with this!  The other thing I was playing with was DoF — my 50mm lens has been riding in my bag for several months, so I thought I should take it out and let it see daylight for a bit!  I shot the picture below at f1.8.  You can’t really tell now, but the eye on the right WAS out of focus – something I had to correct in Photoshop.  My focal point was the bridge of her nose, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say that my fstop probably should have been more like 2.4 or something!  Anyway, I’ve been working lately and not playing so much, so I’ve been ignoring my poor blog – please accept my apologies!
