Visitors and Sight Seeing!
Description
Had a really good time last week! My husband’s mother and her husband were in town for a visit and it was a nice, relaxing kind of week. We did a lot of just hanging out around the house, watering the flowerbeds, that sort of stuff. We did do one thing that Scott and I have talked about for several years now – we visited the Forestiere Underground Gardens here in town. It’s basically an underground ‘dwelling’ that an Italian immigrant built early in the 20th century. He hollowed the whole thing (3 levels) out with nothing but a shovel, a pickaxe, and a wheelbarrow — and he planted TREES there! I have a few pictures of the upper level (the first level below ground) because that’s all that is open right now (lower levels flooded this last winter and are being repaired). I think it’s kind of cool, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.
